Time with Jesus: Luke 7:11-17
A Series on the Life of Christ According to Luke
When we walk with Jesus we will sometimes give care to others that we cannot give to those who are closest to us or to ourselves. Jesus sees a mother weeping over her son and gives her son back to her. Jesus himself will die on the Cross and see his mother weeping and while he will raise again, he cannot stay with her as this son will now be able to stay with his mother.
So too when we walk with Jesus we will often be asked to give even when there is no guarantee we will receive. We offer comfort with no guarantee we will always be comforted by others, we offer love with no guarantee we will be loved by others, we offer care with no guarantee we will be cared for by others—this is how Jesus operated. But this we are assured of—that Jesus knows our pains and cares for us. So we love and care out of the love and care we have been given by Jesus because he knows deeply the pain of caring for those who cannot care back.
That’s why he’s making all things new. Amen.
