Time with Jesus: Luke 7:1-10
A Series on the Life of Christ According to Luke
*Sorry for the unplanned sabbatical, but I had kids and snow and days off of work*
Sometimes when we walk with Jesus we are reminded that he was on a mission. He was on a mission and we are to be on a mission too. But there are these moments when the mission—even the most important mission of all of human history—looks like stopping. Jesus is very inefficient at times. We are also called to be very inefficient at times. For the full explanation of what’s happening in this passage check out this post here.
When we walk with Jesus we have to be prepared to stop, to take time, and to be “distracted” by those around us who bring us genuine needs. It’s so easy to be caught up in the mission and miss the people but Jesus was all about the people. He was all about stopping and taking time and listening and loving people. Why? That’s why he came! Drawing people into the presence and love of God is what the Gospel is all about. That’s why he came to life as a human, that’s why he came to die in our place, that’s why he came to rise again from the dead, and that’s why he reigns at the Father’s right hand and intercedes for us. Jesus is all about helping us connect with the Trinity and he has all the time in the world to make it happen.
So remember when people “get in the way” of ministry that actually that’s impossible—they aren’t in the way they need The Way. They need your love and Jesus’ love because he is making all things new. Amen.
