The Incarnate Jesus

I am leading a study this Fall with a curriculum written by our Minister for Community Engagement at All Saints Anglican Church and, as I often do, I came up with a playlist for each of the lessons to help me as I prepare and study. I thought I might share a song each day over the next few weeks and my reason for its place on the playlist. The first lesson is about how we live out Jesus’ ministry incarnationally.

Matthew 5:41 “If anyone asks you to go with him one mile, go with him two.”

When I think of Jesus’ incarnational ministry, one of the biggest things that comes to mind is his willingness to go out of his way, to take extra time, to sit with people in their lives, and take part in “normal” activities. When we take on the mantle of Jesus, we take on his way of loving. We are going to “go the extra mile” to show that we live by a different way than the world. We are going to take the extra steps to be present and active in our love.
