Something's Coming...It Isn't What You Think
Recent events have reminded me of a song:
Sounds like it could have been written over the weekend, but it wasn’t…it was recorded in 1965. Now, I’m not saying we shouldn’t take world events seriously. It’s our job to take them seriously as Christians—we believe Jesus is coming back to bring an eternal kingdom, and we’re supposed to be caring for creation and the world until he gets here. But…we’re not on the eve of destruction. We weren’t in 1965, and we aren’t now. Doubt and fear are tactics that Satan used from the very beginning to get us out of the will of God. Sure, nations rise and fall. America could fall or become a “woke socialist nightmare” or a “religio-fascist oligarchy.” Those things could happen, but it still wouldn’t mean we are on the eve of destruction.
Sinners being sinners won’t overturn the plans of God. Life being hard won’t overturn the plans of God. The Kingdom of God is at hand; don’t let the devil’s fear fool you into thinking something different.
